As the nights start to close in, we all notice that the lights and heating are turned on that little bit earlier each evening. So, it’s no surprise energy bills start to increase at this time of year. And as many of us are spending more time at home our bills will come into sharp focus over the next few months.
But there is a new electricity offer that could help save money off your bill this winter….
What’s the new deal…
Budget Energy has introduced a new discount tariff that is available for bill pay customers who sign up for Direct Debit payment and online billing. With a competitive discount rate of 21% their new ‘Bonanza 21%’ tariff may be a welcome offer for many people during the darker months.
The Detail
The Budget Energy ‘Bonanza 21%’ discount tariff provides a really competitive rate which will appeal to those customers who prefer a low tariff rate over cashback, promotions or other discounts. At 21% it’s the largest discount Budget Energy have ever introduced to their tariffs in Northern Ireland.
The discount tariff has a rate of 14.10p per kWh (incl Vat) and there is also a daily standing charge which is 8.008p per day (incl Vat). The tariff comes with a 12-month contract term and there is a £40 exit fee if you leave the contract early. The tariff is available to both new and existing customers. However, if an existing Budget Energy customer wants to switch from a tariff where an exit fee is applicable, this must be paid before they can move across to the new Bonanza tariff.

Budget Energy has over 80,000 customers which is around 10% of the domestic market in Northern Ireland. In the Consumer Councils Customer Satisfaction Survey of Electricity Suppliers (September 2020) 69% of customers were satisfied with Budget Energy as their electricity supplier.
