Another price drop from firmus energy…
firmus energy today (24 March 2020) announced a further 12% reduction in natural gas tariffs in the Greater Belfast network area. This follows on from an earlier price drop in October 2019 of 8.77%. This means that firmus energy’s Greater Belfast customers will now pay almost 20% less for their natural gas since last summer.
This will be welcome as many of us will be spending more time at home over the next few months – so at a time of year when energy use tends to drop we will actually see it increase. Therefore, a 12% decrease in prices will be viewed as good news.
What doe the price drop mean for customers?
More than 50,000 households and small businesses in Greater Belfast will benefit from this latest price decrease. The Greater Belfast Network area (which is operated by Phoenix Natural Gas) includes Belfast, Lisburn, Bangor, Holywood, Donaghadee, Groomsport, Millisle, Newtownards, Carryduff, Comber, Newtownabbey, Carrickfergus, Larne and East Down.
The price change will come into effect from 16th April 2020, and represents a further reduction of £66 on the typical annual gas bill. We have factored in the impact this price change, and the previous announcement from SSE Airtricity will make to annual costs.
