SSE Airtricity Gas has announced that they will reduce prices for their gas customers by 8.1% from 1st April 2026.
This will be welcomed by the 211K households that are supplied by SSE Airtricity Gas in the ‘Greater Belfast’ and ‘West’ gas network areas where the decrease will apply.
What does the price decrease mean for customers?
The annual gas bill for a typical household* will reduce by around £80 per year.
As a result of the decrease the annual gas bill for a credit (bill pay) customer will be £905, down from £985.
This latest price drop follows a trend, since October 2022, where costs have reduced (from a peak of £1,594) to £905 so this is will be welcomed by households.
However, gas prices remain much higher than they were back in 2020-21. Thankfully the peaks witnessed between 2022 & 2023 have fallen back but prices remain volatile and above prices we may have traditionally expected.
To demonstrate the volatility in cost take a look at how SSE Airtricity Gas prices have shifted over the last few years … this shows the annual cost for a typical bill pay domestic customer (using 12,000kWh per year).
