NISEP

The Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP for short) provides help to install energy saving measures in your home. This can include energy-efficient boilers, heating controls, loft insulation and cavity wall insulation.

NISEP funding comes from a levy paid by all electricity customers. The scheme is delivered by energy companies and managed by the Energy Saving Trust on behalf of the Utility Regulator. The scheme usually opens in April each year. There is a set pot of money each year so it’s important to check the schemes are still available (and apply early!).

There are currently 17 domestic schemes that help householders install new energy efficient heating systems, cavity wall insulation and loft insulation, as well as six commercial schemes helping businesses install carbon savings technologies such as variable speed drives, intelligent heating controls and LED lighting

NISEP 2020/21 Scheme: Covid-19 Update
The list of schemes for NISEP 2020/2021 has been agreed. However, the list of schemes is not publically available at present due to the difficulties installing measures due to Covid-19. The schemes will be published when work is expected to begin and in line with government guidance on Covid-19.

The scheme is designed to provide support to people who may not be able to avail of other schemes such ‘Affordable Warmth’. Eighty per cent of the scheme is targeted at low income households and those at risk of fuel poverty.
